THE SUN HAS GOT HIS HAT ON (NO, REALLY!)

It’s here. At last!  Well we’ve survived the worst run of weather I can remember. And being an outdoor addict (as well as owning a scooter!), I am well aware of weather patterns within the UK.

April was the wettest for ever – so it seemed like – and May has some other ghastly tag associated with it. Perhaps the coldest since England won the World Cup or Ed Miliband had a smile on his face.  Whatever.  It’s been crap and its made me wonder about making the most of it.

The last truly truly hot summer we had was back in 2003.  I know this as it coincided with a particularly important birthday of mine and the sun meant the celebrations were that bit better.   Ever since then we’ve had the promise of false summers with bright, hazy, Mays and then damp squibs of July to September!

I’m aware of the weather. I know about its profound effects on people’s mood.  The gloom around Soho in London has been replaced over the last few days by smiles and a casual atmosphere.  People don’t look cross or in a hurry.  There is a happy mood in the air and bearing in mind the crap we’ve had to put up with, I think we ALL should make the most of it :-) !

This week I’m all about British Military Fitness in the morning and running to work with a clear, well rested, head on me. I’ll run to work twice I think and hit the London Brit Mil Fit classes a couple of times.  I might can the gym and I’m thinking about sacking in the Bikram Yoga class I had lined up, just so I can spend more time outside!

London parks look amazing.  The Serpentine looks fantastic.   Hyde Park was buzzing with outdoor enthusiasts and the beer gardens and patios of South West London have been a throng of happy drinkers.  It’s great!

I’ve got a 10 mile race down in Surrey this Sunday which the girlfriend and I did last year. And loved it.  It’s an orienteering number and I’ll blog about it afterwards.

In the meantime. Please put down this computer, plan your outdoors activity and get out and about in the park.  Think about your journey into work and can you do it another means?  Can you leave clothes at work and then run to work on other days.

Even take your bike if you running to work is too far. Make the most of it whilst it lasts!! Promise me?! ;-)
